r.i.p. adam west

Adam West passed away on June 9, 2017. Born William West Anderson, it seems he always played a fictional version of himself.

Best known for Batman in the sixties, I caught reruns of these episodes, yet Adam West kept showing up in shows. He made appearances in The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Flash, The Ben Stiller Show, Batman: The Animated Series, The Rugrats, Lois and Clark, Animaniacs, Newsradio, and The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

West’s acting style never changed, he was definitely an actor of an era. But we didn’t want anything else from him, his comedic timing and sense of humor about himself is something everyone should strive for.

Something that’s always stuck with me is the pilot for Lookwell, the series never got picked up, it might’ve been ahead of it’s time when it was produced. But West is amazing in it.

Adam West is Batman for a generation, he’s always been a reminder that you fight the darkness with the light. To quote many a persons on the internet, “He was the brightest of Dark Knights.”
You will be missed.

r.i.p. chris cornell

Chris Cornell (born Christopher John Boyle) passed away yesterday, May 17, 2017, he was 52.

Like me, you probably know him best for being the frontman of Soundgarden and Audioslave. His wonderful lyric writing ability and powerful vocals will always be part of my formative teen years. I specifically remember MTV playing Temple of the Dog‘s Hunger Strike constantly the day after 9/11, it just felt appropriate.

A wonderful talent that will be missed for sure, thanks for sharing your musical gifts with us.

crazyhead

There’s been a large amount of new content on Netflix, one of them is Crazyhead. It’s a British comedy-horror series (6 episodes) about two girls that are fighting off demons in our world.
Crazyhead is created by Howard Overman, you may know him from his previous show Misfits.

This series is about 20% horror with 80% comedy. What really draws me into this show is the relationship between the two leads. Their dynamic is electric, brilliantly paired.

wondercon 2017

I’ve been attending Wondercon since it relocated to Southern California in 2012. It’s also a welcomed convention since San Diego Comic Con sells out.
Wondercon 2017 has come and gone. This time I dressed up as The War Doctor (RIP John Hurt) to help advertise our podcast, Who New.
Living in Southern California I always went for comfort over costume, but now with a Podcast to promote I wore a long jacket in the warm Anaheim weather, we’re in spring, but it felt like summer. Continue reading

star wars rebels – twin suns

The episode Twin Suns in Star Wars Rebels season 3 premiered this weekend. If you haven’t kept up with Rebels, you should go back and start this series. In no time you’ll catch up to season 3, in fact, you’d probably get there faster than light speed 🙂

This show has been a lot of fun, and season 3 amps that up in a way I was not expecting.
The latest episode (Twin Suns) cements this series to the original trilogy even more. The last scene hit me and left me emotional in way that I wasn’t expecting, it manages to tie in the prequels with the original trilogy. Bravo!

the 2017 razzies

The 2017 Razzies have now come upon us. Looks like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has a nomination is almost every category (Worst Picture, Worst Actor for both Affleck and Cavill, and Worst Director for Snyder)… I hate being right about this one, but when it was announced back in 2014 I dismissed it immediately as being anything worth substance or worth even watching. Both of the DC Extended Universe movies that came out in 2016 have been nominated for the Worst Picture category, BvS and Suicide Squad.
That is very uncharacteristic, but in my heart of hearts I knew, I knew! Batman V Superman was sooo bad that it made Hans Zimmer quit comic book movies. Thanks Zack… Continue reading
