Kumail Nanjiani has a podcast called The X-Files Files. You may know Kumail from the awesome HBO show, Silicon Valley. Or you may know him from his stand up comedy.
I first heard of Kumail’s podcast on another podcast, Harmontown, and I thought to myself… why wasn’t a podcast like this created previously?? It’s basically watching The X-Files from season 1 episode 1 and going straight through.
I too grew up with the adventures of Mulder and Scully, and I stayed till the less than stellar end, and that sub-par last movie. Kumail shares the same enthusiasm and scrutiny, he even skips some episodes, and that’s the real draw of the podcast, it’s the honesty. Instead of having a show, about a show, where all they do is gush over everything, we’re treated to honest opinions and even honest criticisms. Another aspect of the podcast that I thoroughly enjoy is the section where the infancy of internet chatter is revisited, what people were thinking about and dissecting, remember when the internet wasn’t mean and hateful? Yeah… neither do I.
If you’re a fan of The X-Files and want to remember the early 90s, check out his podcast on itunes or stream it here.
