My prayers and thoughts go out to Brian during his time of loss right now.
Last night I dreamt that we were in a shopping mall. But we were playing a war game, it feels like paintball or nerf. There’s a truce and I’m not supposed to be walking around with my guns. It’s kinda stupid, but I have three 3o cals with me, that’s not really possible to walk around with. Or practical so shoot with. Then walking further in to the mall I end up in a clearance aisle with some friends and family. It is very much like a Ross or Marshalls. Browsing through all the toys there are some old ones, but in a different package, and the price tags are in a foreign denomination. There’s old Gijoes, Exosquad, Jurassic Park.
Last week I saw a test screening for Bridesmaids. It’s about Kristen Wiig being the maid of honor in Maya Rudolph’s wedding. Wiig is struggling with all aspects of her life, now she’s got to juggle being there for her best friend in all the wedding preparations. I won’t go too much in to it, because we saw a “work in progress.”
The good; hilarious, lots of laughs and gags. Lots of awkward pauses and silence. The ending is wonderful, I hope they keep that in there.
The bad; it ran kinda long for a comedy, but being that we saw a test screening they’re probably going to fix that. Some scenes could use some tightening to make the movie flow better.
So in short, I look forward to seeing what they change and update for its release next year.
Next up is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1. I won’t summarize what the movie is about, because if you don’t know what’s going on you’d either have to read six books, or six films to be caught up. The Deathly Hallows is the seventh film in the Harry Potter franchise.
The good; it’s dark, if you watch the first film and then this film, they are two complete different worlds. The beginning scene chase was great, very action packed. The ending was great as well. From the point where Hermione reads the tale of the Deathly Hallows with the animated sequence to the end end of the movie. It’s action packed, mythical and just great.
The bad; camping… we get a LOT of camping. I know that’s how it is in the books, but this is a film, find some way to make it interesting or shorten it. A lot of interesting films have people just talking, but the filmmakers find some way of making it interesting and fun to watch. The an abundant amount of time in The Lord of the Rings movies spent walking or traveling, but they made it interesting. Wish that could’ve been done here. What I fear is that these last two movies are going to suffer from what the Kill Bill movies suffer from. There’s also a strong amount of dissolves, not really sure why they used so many. The story and action balance between two movies will not be in balance, one will contain more than the other. I guess we’ll see.
So the verdict is still out on the Deathly Hallows part 1. The third act of the movie is where it really picks up, but by then the movie is already over.
Then we all went in to Korea Town. Mainly to go to a Demetri Martin show, but also to eat at Kalbi Burger.
Here we are at Kalbi Burger, the restaurant was featured in Huffington Post. Delicious burgers
Making our way to the Wiltern
some bad photos of Demetri Martin and Will Forte. Regardless of the photo quality, the humor quality was hilarity dipped in guitar and keyboard ambience, then broiled in a vinaigrette consisting of dry whit and non sequiturs (spelling)
